Each K-12 school in the Shoreline School District can apply & receive a Building Grant, which is calculated by student population at a per pupil rate. Since 1998, we have disbursed $238,791.

Classroom Grants
Educators at each K-12 school in the Shoreline School District received grants to create curriculum and school events. (click here for our Classroom Grant Index) Since 1992, we have funded 868 grants totaling $681,127.

Community Wide Grants
Community and school programs benefit from these grants. Grants in 2008-09 were 5,000 Days Project, Friends of Sunset Park, History Day, Math Olympiad, Shoreline Senior Center’s “Power of One”, and SL-LFP Arts Council “Shoreline Showcase”. As of 2001, we have funded 38 grants totaling $31,150.

District Wide Support
During 2004 2008, we have helped fund various items totaling $161,827. Support has been provided for: Social Studies field trips for all 2nd, 3rd & 4th grade students, The 5th & 6th grade District Music Festival, educational performance assemblies, security radios, various textbooks, and laptop scholarships to name a few.
Educator Enrichment Grants
Scholarships have been given to the Shoreline District’s Teacher of the Year, Support Person of the Year, Puget Sound Writing Project, National Teacher Certification, Teacher Mentor Program and funds to help support the Shoreline PTA Council’s Teacher Grants. Since 1997, we have disbursed $89,791 to support the dedicated staff of the Shoreline School District.
Opportunity Grants
Each K-12 school in the Shoreline School District receives $200, $400, $600 or $1,000 according to their population. Since 1993, students in need have received a total of $88,610 in assistance for health exams, school supplies, field trip fees and other classroom expenses.
Secondary Enrichment Scholarships
As of 1998, 251 awards totaling $48,872 have been granted to students from Shoreline middle and high schools. Any teacher or administrator may nominate a student with financial need for a scholarship to any program that is an enrichment opportunity i.e., music, drama, athletics, leadership, writing workshops or camps etc…
Summer School Funding
We grant funds to the Summer Reading Academy, which provides assistance to 5th through 8th grade students with extended learning opportunities in a 90-minute reading class, with Read 180, and an intensive 70-minutes writing course. In addition, we provide 9th-12th grade students with tuition assistance so they can enroll in classroom-based classes to gain extra help in areas of need and to take Apex online courses in the Secondary Summer School program. Since 1992, we have disbursed $461,902.
